As mandated by the McKinney-Vento Act, the Charter School of Excellence is responsible for uninterrupted enrollment to students whose families have become displaced, who have lost their homes or have inadequate/temporary living circumstances, are doubled up with other families, or students who are no longer living with parents or guardians.
Services include transportation, counseling, assistance in obtaining clothing and personal care items, provision of free breakfast and lunch, and connection with community agencies. The CSE is dedicated to helping all students achieve academic excellence regardless of their situation. If you know of any students/families struggling with homelessness, we are here to help.

Its purpose is to support the educational needs of students living in homeless situations. Shelter Listings is dedicated to serving the homeless and low-income. We have listed out the shelters and low cost housing services we have in Erie, PA below. This list has homeless shelters, halfway houses, affordable housing, etc. The database consists of over 3,000 listings and includes emergency shelters, homeless shelters, day shelters, transitional housing, shared housing, residential drug alcohol rehabilitation programs and permanent affordable housing. ICM continues to sponsor the Voucher System for Emergency Assistance (VSEA), which provides participating congregations with a means to minister to the homeless and poor of our community. The Laura Wilkinson Memorial Fund provides grieving parents financial assistance for funeral expenses after a child's death. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE) serves as the Department's technical assistance and information center for the federal Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program. Homeless Case Management *Erie County Care Management, Inc. provides case management to individuals who meet the above criteria to help them link with mental health treatment, rehabilitation, and housing resources. One of the main goals of the Pennsylvania's Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness Program is to help each homeless student have a school life that is as regular as possible during the period of homelessness. The main purpose of the Pennsylvania's Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness Program is to make sure homeless youth have access to free and appropriate public education while removing barriers that homeless children face.
