The Charter School of Excellence incorporates safety nets to ensure students are provided the support they need to be successful in school. The foremost safety net is provided in the daily setting to ensure that students are ready to learn.
The District contracts with a local provider for mental health counseling, student assistance, and other supports that may be beneficial for eligible students. Student Assistance Program (SAP) teams are located in all district buildings to screen, recommend and monitor students in need of academic or behavioral interventions. Additionally, the District partners with Safe Harbor Behavioral Health for the operation of outpatient clinics to offer seamless mental health services to students within district buildings. Outpatient services are available during and after the regularly scheduled school day.
CSE works collaboratively with community agencies that may be providing behavioral health and rehabilitative services to students on an Individualized basis. Our building-based Mental Health Therapist (BEST Liaison) can be contacted by parents or providers to schedule necessary school visits. Some examples of community-provided supports are therapeutic support staff (TSS), mobile therapy (MT), behavioral support counseling (BSC), and private duty nursing.
BEST is a data-based decision-making entity that coordinates and supports a comprehensive system of intervention. The BEST of CSE will coordinate and mobilize school and community resources to support our students and families. The BEST in conjunction with the Student Assistance Program (SAP) will remain focused on maximizing student success through innovative intervention strategies.
